BPS Cross Country Report 2018

The rain cleared just in time for the cross country on Monday and the temperature was perfect for the competitors running the cross country course. It was rather chilly for the spectators and gave us all a taste of the winter to come. The events began with the 9 and 10 year old girl’s event. The marshals were very impressed with the pace set by Tess over the first lap and even more impressed that she managed to keep up the momentum and finish the 2km course in just over 8 minutes. Term One Junior and Senior Art

    Senior Art Hello everyone, the term is flying by and we have been very busy in the art room.  Our grade 5 and 6 students have completed their plaster carvings and have mounted them on card with an Indonesian inspired decorative border.  The hard work really paid off and these look great.  They are displayed in the art room for all to see. With our Indonesian visitors joining us this week, we have gone off on a little tangent and are now using the Indonesian technique called ‘BATIK’ to decorate a reusable calico bag. Visitors from our Indonesian Sister-School

During week 6 and 7 of Term 1 we have been fortunate enough to host two wonderful teachers from our sister school in West Java. Nuri and Aya teach at  a Primary School called Ar-ridha-al-salaam (ARAS), in Depok, near the capital city of Jakarta. The sister-school partnership is part of a government-funded project called BRIDGE: Building Relationships through Intercultural Dialogue and Growing Engagement. In the BRIDGE program students will collaborate on projects, practice language skills, increase cultural awareness and hopefully even develop life-long friendships with students at their partner school.
