Year 3 and 4 Camp

During November our Year 3 and 4 students participated in an outdoor activity camp to Howman’s Gap. The camp develops their independence, resilience and teamwork skills. The students had a fantastic time and I’m sure developed many memories of their time at Howman’s Gap.

Junior Art Update

Students in the Junior grades are currently focusing on an Australian Artist. Grade Foundation O’B and Foundation/1W have been viewing and discussing the works of John Olsen.  John Olsen has produced many artworks with an emphasis on wetlands and the creatures within them.  Both classes are near completion of their ‘Frogs’ artwork.  The students have used oil pastels, black fine-liner pens and straw-blowing paint to achieve these amazing artworks. Year 6 Transition to Beechworth Secondary College

The grade 6’s going to Beechworth Secondary College next year attended a full day’s transition on Wednesday. The students arrived at the high school at the start of the day and engaged in different lessons all day. They were guided by two year 7 students, Billy and Oscar, (past students of Beechworth Primary School) and they did an excellent job. Students attended the following lessons: Humanities, Indonesian, Food, P.E. They could access the café, stadium, library or yard during recess. Kinder-to-Prep Transition 2018/19

Our Transition and Buddy Programme for 2018/19 is well on its way. Grade 5 students who have elected to have a Kinder buddy have had the opportunity to visit their buddies at Beechworth Kindergarten during Term 3. Children who did not attend Beechworth Kindergarten came to the school for a meet-and-greet to connect with their buddies before our first official Transition Day. On Tuesday 16th October, Ms Weideman, Chez and all the Grade 5 buddies eagerly awaited the arrival of our soon-to-be Foundation students. Ringwood Secondary College Big Band Performance

On Friday the 2nd of November, all students at Beechworth Primary School were lucky enough to have the opportunity to see the Ringwood Secondary College band perform in the Memorial Hall in Beechworth. With about 60 students touring, from Years 7 to Year 10, the band was very impressive, taking up both the stage and the space in front of it, where they demonstrated a range of instruments for the students from the known such as trumpets, drums, violins and clarinets, to some lesser known instruments like the tuba and the double bass (Oh, and parents, think very carefully if

Walk-to-School

On Monday 1st October Miss Dunstan stood up in front of the school to talk about Walk to School. Miss Dunstan encouraged everyone to walk, ride or scoot to school. If you couldn’t walk to school Miss Dunstan encouraged them to walk to walk to the bus stop or even simple to just walk around the school during recess. In every classroom there is a piece of paper with everyone’s name in that class.
