Athletics Carnival 2019

It was a lovely day down on the school oval; chilly because of the wind but still a nice day to be running around! This year was the closest we’ve ever seen the results as far as I can remember. The difference between 1st and 4th was just 8 points. Having close scores mean that each team participated and “ribboned” fairly equally which is a great reflection of the day! Ingram – 248 Sambell – 250 Kerferd – 253 Fletcher – 256 We found ourselves with an extra hour up our sleeves in the middle of the day so we

A wonderful connection to the community today as we joined the ANZAC Day March in Beechworth in memory of those who gave so much. Congratulations to Beechworth RSL on an excellent ANZAC Day Service. Lest we forget.

Senior School Production June 12th and 13th

Well it’s almost that time of the year when the senior school students take to the stage to perform for the wider school community.  This years production will be held at the Beechworth Memorial Hall on Wednesday the 12th and Thursday the 13th of June.  The performance will be a comedic musical titled ‘Rock Bottom’, set in prehistoric times when dinosaurs roamed and no one wore shoes!!  The students received their roles before the holidays and hopefully have found some time in their busy social schedules to become familiar with their part.  I’ve been busy getting costumes and props together

2019 Harmony Day Mural Completion

To celebrate Harmony Day this year, a group of students worked with indigenous artist Treahna Hamm to complete a colourful mural at Beechworth Primary School. The mural represents both our local area as well as our links with indigenous culture and our sister school in Indonesia. The students used inspiration from the local environment around Beechworth to represent Australia, including native animals, the hills and trees. For the Indonesian part they drew on batik-style designs of tropical flowers and jungle vines as well as tropical fruit. Tying it all together is a bright blue swirl, which can be used to

Royal Flying Doctor Service Incursion

On the 14th-15th of March the Royal Flying Doctor Service simulator visited Beechworth Primary School. The instructors, Tom and Campbell, spoke to the students about the important role the Royal Flying Doctors Service plays in the community. The students visited the aeroplane simulator and viewed the important equipment carried by the Service. There wasn’t a lot of room in the aircraft and the bed for patients wasn’t very wide.  It was exciting to see a full sized section of a working aircraft at Beechworth Primary School!

Senior Art

The Senior Art classes have finished off the year by completing an individual canvas work.  These works have always been a favourite for the older kids, they have the chance to show how much they’ve learned through their Senior Art years. For the year 3’s, it was an opportunity to create an art work for a specific audience.  The students were free to choose the medium which they used for their final piece, it could have been an oil pastel drawing, a collage, a pencil drawing or many other things, most students decided to paint their work.  Below are some
