Starting school is a big change for a child. Helping your child to understand what is happening can reduce stress and fear on their part. Each year we run a series of sessions that are scheduled during Term 4 to help the children transition from kindergarten into primary school. For children enrolling in other year levels, we offer a transition morning in December (Statewide Transition Day) or we can easily coordinate half or full transition day prior to enrolment start date.

Our school zone
Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.
Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.
Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

Foundation (Prep) enrolments
The Department of Education has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.
The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Yackandandah Primary School.

Beechworth Primary School holds an Open Day for School Tours during Term 2 for prospective enrolments. Tours may also be requested following the Open Day, depending on availability of staff and timetabling, should you have missed the Open Day. If you would like to arrange a School tour please contact our office on (03) 5728 1066 to make a booking.
What you need to do:
- Contact our school (03) 5728 1066 to book a school tour or to learn more about our school and the enrolment application process.
- Information booklets and enrolment forms are available at the school or can be downloaded via the links at the top of this page.
- Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep) by the end of July.
- You will be notified of the outcome of your application by the end of the second week in August.
- If you receive an enrolment offer, you should contact our school to accept the offer by the end of August.
- Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4.
Enrolment applications submitted after the end of July will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.
Parent Payments Policy
Under the Department of Education and Training’s Parent Payments Policy, Victorian government schools are required to provide transparent information to their school community on voluntary parent contributions. Please find beside our parnte payment arrangements for 2025.
