2021 Family Fun Night

BPS annual Family Night was a night of fun, and a great opportunity for families to connect with the school and fellow parents. Families had time to mingle and get to know each other and the teachers whilst enjoying a sausage or two. This year our theme was our Capital Grant building works. Families collected pieces of a map and explored the classrooms and engaged in a range of activities related to ‘renovation’. Our map pieces had snippets of the long history of the school on the back. We all enjoyed the jumping castles and the sausage sizzle. Our SRC

2021 Student Leadership

At Beechworth Primary School student leadership is important to us. Today we celebrated our 2021 student leaders with our badge presentation assembly. Each year the students elect two School Captains, two Vice Captains, House Captains and SRC representatives for each class.  We had to ‘tweek’ it up a bit this year with our assembly being held outside on the basketball courts so that we could have our families attend. Thank you to Trish Broom, Beechworth Secondary College principal, who presented our 2021 badges. Our assembly was followed by a fun morning tea for our leaders.

Probability Carnival

Step right up! Step right up! You have been chosen to attend the inaugural 3/4 STEM Probability Carnival. Students in the middle unit were tasked with researching the kinds of games that are played at carnivals and then using their imagination to create a game of probability and chance that their classmates would enjoy playing. Research and testing was programmed for the first week of Term 4 followed by an energetic few days of design and decoration. 3/4D led the charge with a glorious display of painted exhibits with 3/4M following directly with an explosion of glitter traipsed throughout the

Book Week Celebrations

This year we celebrated Book Week in a slightly different way, but we still managed a parade. We were sorry not to have our families and grandparents with us, as is tradition at BPS. The costumes were amazing!! The students stood on the balcony of the BER (senior students) and sat in the Amphitheatre (junior students) and walked class by class to parade their amazing costumes. The parade was followed by reading some of the 2020 shortlisted and activities related to the books. The students enjoyed listening to the stories read by their teachers then used a range of art

Borambola Year 5 and 6 Camp

This year the year 5/6 students went to Borambola sport and recreation reserve for camp. They did all sorts of activities for building teamwork, making new friends and, generally had a good time. They travelled by bus for 196 km for 2 hours and 33 minutes. An extremely fun activity was the mud run. They all ran through shallow pits of cold, watery mud. Over small mounds of wet dirt, down in cold pits of mud, under old tires, leaping over small poles. They all participated and had fun! Look at that! Teachers in the mud! Go Mrs Tag and

Numeracy Detectives at the ready… there is a problem to be solved! The theme for our  2020 BPS Annual Family Night is all about discovering what’s happening with Math! Our Scavenger Hunt began at 5:00pm and families collected their ‘Crack the Code!’ cards at the front gate. 2020 Student Leadership Group

At Assembly on Monday we welcomed our new 2020 student leaders. Student leaders are an important element to our Student Voice in the school. We have School Captains who take on the leadership role within the school and represent  us out in the community. Our SRC  (including our School Captains) take on the voice element of the whole school, checking in with all classes for their ideas and feedback. Our House Captains, in addition to leading our houses, lead our House Community sessions on a Friday afternoon.

Junior Production 2019

A class eagerly hurries to the library for a session with Chez.  They are confronted with a locked door with a note attached.  “Had to dash my lovelies, back soon” Where could Chez have got to? The children have a lot of ideas about what has her running late.  From first aid to fairy trees, they’ll be plenty of singing and dancing until Chez arrives. Our Junior production practice is well underway as we look forward to performing it at the Beechworth Memorial Hall on Thursday the 12th of December.  This year our performance is a tribute to one of
